Indusind Bank was started in the year 1994 with a capital of Rs.100 crores. It was promoted by the Hinduja family based in London.

Promoters: 15%
MFs, Banks, Insurance Companies:10%
Individuals:6.4%
Private Corporates:9.1%
NRIs, Directors, others:2.3%

Its amongst the first new generation banks in India. It came into existence after the liberalisation of the Indian Banking Sector in 1991.
In the year 2004 the bank merged with Ashok Leyland Finance an NBFC of the Hinduja Group.
